Testing Dept file 1028 Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}7/JH.1.7.40. CARBURATION DISCUSSION - 31.1.40. Present :- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC.{R. Childs} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/TAS.{T. Allan Swinden} Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} (1) 1.R.1. It was agreed that 1.R.1. should be set as weak as possible under the present atmospheric conditions, and a new set of plugs fitted, and then run to see how long it will continue to be satisfactory before the plugs get oxidised and misfiring starts. A report should be issued showing what can be gained from thermostatically operated radiator shutters in regard to fuel economy by direct comparison figures previously obtained on 12.B.V. (2) 12.B.V. This car should be fitted up with small induction pipes, and then tried to see whether this pipe makes it possible to weaken the carburettor setting any further without misfires. Having obtained new settings, the car will be run to see how long it will run before it deteriorates. (3) 3.S.50. CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation} will contact Zenith's and urge the small carburetter required, and will also get delivery date for the small induction pipe of the new type. He will let Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} know the position before Monday. (4) Transport Cars. FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies} will get in touch with Barkworth and arrange for two Transport cars to be allotted for plug tests. One of these cars will be run with single contact breaker ignition, the other with double contact breaker ignition, both with small type plugs. Cont'd | ||
