Dear Sirs,

RE COUPE LIMOUSINE FOR MR. ROYCE.

We are sending you herewith drawings of the body GR.{George Ratcliffe}8604, modified and mounted on the special 20.H.P. Chassis which is being built for Mr.Royce. We hope that this information will enable you to go ahead with the modifications necessary.
We have looked into the modification problem and have come to the conclusion that the body can be mounted on the chassis frame without being lifted by packing. Although the dash is the new one with shoulders and top raised .750ins., the raising of the radiator by 1.400ins. just brings the side and top lines of the scuttle to the right height at the screen to suit the existing body.
The first body bracket on the upsweep is the same height above the level frame as standard, but the rear bracket is .800ins. higher. As these rear brackets are at the tail end of the body which has to be reade this can be dealt with. It will be necessary to see that the increased upsweep of the frame at the reardoss not foul the body. We suggest that it would be a good idea to make a wooden template of the side of the chassis frame, fixing on blocks for the body brackets.
The bonnet and dash is the raised one which you have already heard of.
DASH. top and side hinges raised .750ins.
Width, increased two inches.
RADIATOR. raised 1.400ins.
If you make the scuttle armature about 1.250ins. square, Derby can cut it to fit around the chat dash when mounting. They will also fit the scuttle stiffeners on the face of the armature and the four seal-isolation bolts.
We would be glad if you would arrange for the wings and valances to be ready about ten days before the body so that Derby can be finally fitting them to the chassis and finishing them. They will fit one standard front wing stays bent to suit, but we look to you to provide the rear wing support.
The running boards will have to be drilled by Derby to suit the step-irons. The rubber and nickel edging should therefore be fitted in such a way the it can be removed without damage.
We wish you to treat this information and that of the drawings as strictly confidential as explained during our visit.

Yours faithfully,

for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
