1110. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Smth3/R.{Sir Henry Royce} 13th April, 1937. Messrs. Borg & Beck Company Ltd., Tachbrook Road, LEAMINGTON SPA. For the attention of Mr. H.T. Barker. Dear Sirs, We beg to confirm the discussion which the Writer had with yourself and Mr. Armitage yesterday concerning the Experimental P.III clutch plate. It was agreed that the United Spring Co. should go ahead at once in the manufacture of tools to produce the cushion springs, the tools are to be Rolls-Royce property and are expected to cost in the region of £18. We are enclosing a print of our Ex.23084/A which gives particulars of the spring. With regard to the general question of the manufacture of the plate in the event of our wishing to standardise it, we expressed the view that unless you could produce plates which satisfied us both from the point of view of cost and quality, we should want to manufacture them ourselves, and you agreed to this principle. Yours faithfully, For ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
