GOSHAWK 11. X3730
XC4229

We send you herewith N.sch. 1263 showing the revised dimensions of the open car for Goshawk 11. embodying all the mod-ifications to 4-Goshawk 11 (shewn on N.sch. 981) suggested by R.{Sir Henry Royce} in his various memos. The chief points to notice are:-
(1) As straight-sided tyres and wire wheels are being fitted we have shewn our new design of wings, details of which will be sent to you from Derby as soon as possible. We give the over-all distance over the hub caps and wings both rear and front.
(2) The height of the scuttle at the instrument board is to be 29" from the top of the frame.
(3) The front seat of 4-Goshawk 11. was thought to be too deep. The seat we shew for this car is 19", and 1" less than that on R's car. It is imperative that the compressed seat dimension under the wheel should not be more than 9", and that the cushion should not be too thick. A tray for carrying the smaller and least used tools should be housed in a flat box under the seat.
(4) The width of the front seat between the top rails is 1½" more than on 4-Goshawk 11, and the width at the front of the back seats is accordingly wider. In drawing the back of this body we have worked to Messrs Hooper's drawing No.1318. In view of R's remarks re 6-Goshawk 11. being clumsy, the dimensions given should be looked upon as maximum.
(5) The front seat corners should have a large radius as shewn, to facilitate entry of the car. We also think that the off-side door should be wider and further back than the near side one.
