HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} } FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} SECRET. ORIGINAL DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/M22.3.29. SS.{S. Smith} FRAME. X7380 X7410 X7520 We have received the following telegram from R:- "DAY - CAR WITHOUT CROSS MEMBER QUITE SATISFACTORY "YOUR SPRING LUBRICATION HAS MUCH REDUCED DAMPING "INCREASE HYDRAULICS AT LEAST FIFTY PER CENT SPRING "STIFFNESS TEN THEN PROBABLY EXCELLENT IMPROVEMENT "GREATEST PROBLEM GOOD LIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL BODIES ALSO "EASY CHANGE GEAR FOR UNSKILLED. ASK JENNER TO SEND "STUDIES OF ARTICULATED CON. RODS MADE FOR BUZZARD "ANDOTHERS". We understand this to mean that we may proceed with the tubular members as already sent you - N. schs.2852/3. We shall be sending you immediately the modifications to the cutout and silencer support. With reference to the 10% increase in the stiffness of the springs we understand this to refer to the front springs only, and we believe you do not want any drawings from us. With reference to the increase of 50% in the load on the shock dampers, as this is also only a question of a stronger spring we presume you will be able to do it without anything from us.
