Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} c. Sft.{Mr Swift} c. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X2066 BY11/G.9.7.29. LUBRICATION OF HYPOID AXLES. ------------------------- Referring to BY5/G.5.7.29. we feel this matter requires further consideration. At the moment I wish to confirm my previous memo that the axles should continue to be run with the same oil with which they were tested, but as there will be two or three weeks before cars are delivered there is no need to take a decision at this moment, as to which type of oil the axles shall be filled with before despatch. We agree with Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} that it is necessary to despatch with one type of oil, but a decision may possibly have been arrived at before it is necessary to despatch cars, that Castrol 'R' is perfectly satisfactory. If so, we would of course prefer to use this, as Whitmore's compound will certainly not be available in all parts of the country and abroad. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} BM | ||
