x2066. Expl. Dept. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 2/MJ. July 19th,1929. Messrs. C.C. Wakefield & Co.Ltd., Wakefield House, 30-32, Cheapside, London, E.C.2. x1583 x2066 Dear Sir, For the attention of Mr.Limb. Some time ago we took up with you the question of satisfactory oil for Hypoid rear axles. You will remember you sent some oil to the Gleason Co., and we forwarded to you their report in which they stated that they found Castrol 'R' not as good as Whitmore's oil they recommend. In spite of their report, we have tried a few axles on Castrol 'R' and have had cases of failure when using this oil which have never occurred when using Whitmore's. We are therefore issueing instructions that Whitmore's oil must be used for our rear axles until we have proved a satisfactory alternative. We should like to know whether you have acted upon the report which we sent to you from the Gleason Co., and also whether you have any alternative oil to recommend for this particular job. Yours faithfully, | ||
