TITE FLEX ALL METAL HOSE

Where great flexibility is desired, single fine wire braid is supplied on Tite flex and a double braid where the service conditions are more severe, particularly where high internal pressure is encountered. The flat ribbon braid is used when flexibility is not the essential quality but the absorption of vibration is desired and mechanical support to the tubing is sought. An interlocked armour may be used over the braided Tite flex tube to give added protection and reinforcement against handling, or when forced bends are liable to occur.

The conventional type of interlocked tubing on the market is made up in various forms, all of which employ a packed sliding joint. The flexibility of this tubing depends on a sliding joint and as the packing is the sole reliance for tightness, it can readily be seen that the life of the tubing is measured by the life of the packing.

The bursting strength of the packed type of metal tubing is limited by its resistance to the blowing out of packing, lining or casing and its life is decreased by joint wear from flexing or bending. This strength is measured in Tite flex by the circumferential reinforcement in the ribs formed by four thicknesses of overlapping metal at the joint, which remains a homogeneous union. Any increase of pressure tends to make the joint tighter and safer, rather than weaker, so that with metal thin enough for extreme flexibility, the bursting strength of Tite flex tubing is still in excess of practical needs.

As would be expected from its construction, Tite flex is unaffected by low temperatures, is ready for instant use in any climate or under any temperature change. Tite flex is all-metal. Tite flex properly handled and installed will give unusually fine service.
