Copy of letter from Mr. J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Marchbank. 159, Leith Street, Edinburgh. July 16th, 1934. To M/Director, Rolls-Royce Ltd., London. Patented Carburetter No. 18801/34. Dear Sir, I take this liberty of drawing your attention to the above patent which I have now protected after six years hard work to design I think one of the most advanced instruments of its kind in the world. This carburetter has been tested on one of your cars, and I can prove to you that I can give better power speed and the big factor in this list was 45% more miles per gallon of Petrol. It may sound a fairy tale to you, Sir, but to convince you I am prepared to send to you, with no obligation on your part to test etc. a carburetter, and I am quite sure that after seeing this instrument you will not doubt my statement re the finest carburetter in the world. I have put everything that can be designed in the whole device, also there are no jets to give trouble and only a combination of filters, which can be cleaned without any trouble just screwed out by the hand. Thus the whole device can be sealed for a lifetime. One of the greatest features in the device is that it is capable of drawing its own fuel into the float chamber without a petrol pump or any other vacuum system, also cannot be set on fire. Will positively overcome dilution of oil and is positively silent. If this is of interest to you I am prepared to send one to you for your future tests etc. and I have kept this a complete "secret", and will do so until you are satisfied of its results. I have only given your cars and aero engine consideration, as it is far too precise to put on any other car or engines. Hoping, Sir, this meets your approval and consideration for a test. I am, Sir, Yours faithfully, (Sgd.) Jas. Marchbank, A.F.C. P.S. The carburetter is guaranteed for a lifetime without trouble etc. | ||
