To Mr. Peskett.

Our three-phase supply to Experimental Electrical Laboratory is tapped from main supply to large shop motor and the wires run loosely over the iron beams. The only protection against an earth on one of these wires is the main motor supply circuit breaker, whose capacity is too great to prevent these small wires being fused and possibly fired in the event of an earth. In such a case, protective fuses at the sending (main motor) end are more important than tubing the wires or placing fuses at receiving end.

As we wish to retain this supply, which is useful to us, we suggest the early provision of fuses at the main motor - tubing in to be carried out at your convenience.
