-4- Gear Ratio. Does not have very much effect within the limits of practical application. Ignition. The car is not exceptionally sensitive to ignition advance for overheating. Chrysler. The Chrysler is the best cooled American car we have so far tried. Considering the weight and dimensions of its cooling system, this is very remarkable. Its cooling is equally good at high and low speeds. Projected Tests. We hope to do some further tests on the 20 HP. On the 40/50 HP. we have yet to run with the radiator moved further forward and also to try a different fan speed. We have proved on the test bed that a leaking water pump gland can completely upset the circulation. We have to confirm the effect on the cooling system on the track. Consistency of Results. Cooling results are always apt to be slightly capricious due to the large number of factors affecting the tests. On the whole the figures obtained are reasonably consistent and agree with those on Montlhery. One small point is that the car at Montlhery was running with a ventilated front undershield which may have caused the effect of the bonnet shutters to appear slightly less than we recorded under standard condition. /recorded UNDER | ||
