-5- CONDITIONS OF TESTS. Shutters. Where "shutters open" is referred to in these tests it means four bonnet shutters as on Phantom I. At present only two bonnet shutters are fitted as standard in the rear or least efficient position. Fan Belt. Throughout this series of tests the new Canvas Rubber fan belt was used and run choc-o-bloc. Altered Fan. To improve the fan effectiveness the curvature of the blades was increased at the maximum width section by .625". [Diagram 1: 1.750, E74487] [Diagram 2: 2.375, ALTERED FAN] Gear Ratios. The two different gear ratios were obtained by using the largest and smallest diameter tyres available. Car. Load. 10-cwt. weight etc. as in previous tests. 45 M.P.H. and } Carried out at full throttle 30 M.P.H. tests } by towing another car. Top water temperatures recorded are those at which a heat balance is obtained. | ||
