COPY AIR MINISTRY, Adastral House, Kingsway, W.C.2. Your Ref. Lp{Mr Lappin}5/J18634. 11th June, 1934. KESTREL PLUGS. My dear Lappin, In reply to yours of the 8th, the V.9/1 in our view should not be quoted as an alternative type because we have had a little trouble not only on your engines but elsewhere on this type due to oiling up. Also, as pointed out at R.A.E. during a recent visit which I made with Mr. Rubra and Mr. West, performance at altitude would not be so good as a plug with a slightly smaller heat factor. D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} of E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} particularly wished to avoid increasing the number of types in stock, and therefore wished to avoid introducing the V.9/1 if an A.2/2 and a slightly modified V.7/1 could meet your requirements. Yours sincerely, E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} L. Mayall Emtage. | ||
