X9684 re Nickel Steel Tubing for Steering Tubes. J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} for R.{Sir Henry Royce} 3.12.13. Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}2/G31213. With reference to your request that we should try to obtain Steering Tubes in some better material, we have succeeded in obtaining them in 3½% Nickel Steel. This material would be quite suitable for the Side Couplers, which is the one there is doubt about, and unless you have objection we propose to use this material on 2900 and 3000 series. It is not suitable for the Cross Couplers because of the brazed ends. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
