A.{Mr Adams} Robotham Esq., Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited, DERBY. Dear Mr. Robotham, Thank you for your letter of 11th August. I note all you say and we will do everything possible to carry out your wishes. Perhaps I did not make it very clear regarding the balance weights on the wheels. The tyres and wheels which were sent to Mr. Sleator had balance weights fitted. Therefore, as far as Mr. Sleator is concerned everything is in order because the wheels with the tyres mounted were carefully balanced before they left our factory. However, the wheels which you received were sent to you direct from Bramber and did not have the balance weights and we now find that sufficient allowance was not made by Bramber to get these weights in. Your Mr. Grylls has written us in connection with this matter and submitted a drawing showing greater clearance between the spokes to allow the standard Bentley balance weights to be fitted. Bramber says that they cannot make a satisfactory job of the wheel with the 3.4" space left for the balance weights. They would like to reduce this to 3" and use Rolls-Royce balance weights which they state are smaller in diameter and these would go in the wheel satisfactorily. For your information, I am sending you a copy of a letter I have written to Mr. Grylls. | ||
