To By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} c. to RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} Re: Bentley Steering. From time to time complaints have been reported, on the steering being loose on the frame. It has finally come to light that the bolts K.456, are not screwed far enough down the shank. It is presumed that in cases where the limits are on the minimum side, the nut comes to the bottom of the thread and does not thoroughly hold the box on the frame. There is a spring washer fitted, but these have varied in thickness. If these bolts were screwed in a further .125" down the shank, full security would be obtained.
