ACCIDENT TO 40/50 H.P. ROLLS-ROYCE CHASSIS 17-HG -
K.F. COURT - WHICH TURNED OVER MIDWAY BETWEEN
BEULAH & HOPETOUN EARLY IN FEB. 1927.

From information gathered, the roads in this district are only made in strethces whilst the unmade portions are soft sand, and, from statements made, this car was travelling at high speed on a made portion of the road when, before it could be avoided or car eased up, it struck an unmade portion consisting of deep soft sand, from which it can be presumed, control of steering was lost, wheels locked over in the sand and car somersaulted. Front axle and side steering tube were bent and were straightened at Hopetoun to enable car to be driven to Melbourne. Body has been dismantled from chassis for examination and steering column is bent, radiator damaged and chassis is twisted from approximately the centre to the rear end.

Size of tyres fitted to this car are 35 x 6.95 to the rear wheels and 33" x 5" to the front wheels.

Mr. K.F. Court was the driver of this car and was carrying five passengers, but he could not give much information as to how the accident happened. My own opinion and comments are as stated previously.
