Mr. Campbell's Car was turned over, on the main Western Road between Parramatta and Penrith, on the 3rd May. This Car is a Limousine, weighing 2.8.3.3.(without passengers, luggage and petrol). It is fitted with balloon well base wheels at rear and standard on front. at the time of the accident the rear tyres were in a poor condition, there being no tread on and down to the canvas in places. The road, where the Car went over, is a bitumen road for approximately 18 feet, sloping down both sides on soft road. The Car was travelling approx. 20 miles an hour, when the driver, to avoid traffic, steered off the hard road. As soon as he got on the soft road, the Car slid down the bank and turned over - the road was wet. There were 6 people in the Car, but, fortunately, no one was hurt. The only damage to the Car was one wing crushed and side wheel carrier bent. (Sgd) A.J. Appleby. | ||
