To By/Ald.{F. Allwood - Experimental Design} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. WRAITH & B.III. FANS. As a result of tests carried out to date with the new Ferodo 'Fero-grip' fan belts, it appears that we may be able to dispense with fan belt adjustment provision as the stretch is negligible. Will you therefore produce a scheme as soon as possible for Wraith for fan mounting providing no adjustment and securing fan to the water outlet by two vertical bolts, so that in order to remove fan complete it is only necessary to remove these two bolts and drop the fan vertically. Provision should be made for some initial tensioning of the belt to take up the initial 'settling down' - removable distance pieces which could be detached after, say, 1000 miles running would do this.
