-2- EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}3/AH. 29.9.33 (5) The horn button, in spite of being slightly raised, is still easily "missed". Suggest another .050" higher. (6) Floor Boards. Vibrations set up in these boards aggravate "booms" period at engine revs. 2500-3000. The clearance is very fine and unless maintained also rumbles and rattles. The boards require some more definite fixing in the centre, also more flexible movement between change gear quadrant and floor boards. Same with exhaust cut-out mechanism. A small door is required for the gear box oil level inspection. It is a big job at present to remove the floor boards. (7) Bonnets. More accurate details on coachbuilders' drawings and the means to obtain definite and accurate blending of the bonnet and scuttle are required. Sft.{Mr Swift} has gauges for coachbuilders in hand. Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} has promised to take up this job. On the finished cars this has been a considerable trouble. A strip of hard fabric has been used in some cars between the end of the bonnet and scuttle. This, we consider, aggravates scuttle booms and knocks. Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} points out that soft felt is instructed to be fitted here. We consider it essential that the bonnet be located by radiator beading and dashboard only. (8) The change gear lever mechanism still has periods of rattle and likely to be a source of complaint. (9) Some more definite means of "sealing" the rear hubs is required. (10) Boiling takes place if the engine continues to run slow, car standing. | ||
