obtained from garage).

After running in following tests to be taken.

(1) Power open exhaust on best valve timing also power with

(a) Standard Bentley exhaust system.
(b) Duplex exhaust systems.

back pressure to be checked.

(2) With standard Bentley exhaust system check on 'Redline'
non detonating power, max. power, giving ignition advance
also governor characteristic with fixed initial timing.

(3) Check compression pressures.

(4) Obtain figures of sensitivity of ignition advance against
M.E.P. similar to tests on No.1 unit (Also switching off
characteristic.

(5) Repeat (2) and (4) with solid stem exhaust valves.

(6) Continue investigation of crank damper with

(a) Friction damping.
(b) Increased inertia damper flywheel.
(c) Optimum spring loading.

(7) Continue development of induction system (Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS{C. Trot Salt - Carburation})

(8) Before this unit is passed off, an oil consumption should
be run over 1 hr. at 4,000 r.p.m. If above 2 pts/hr. repeat.

No.2 Test House.

B.11 No.4 Unit.

Has been fitted with new main and big end bearings.

After running in carry out oil consumption over 2 hrs. at
4,000 r.p.m. and repeat until a stable figure is obtained.
