-2- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wdl.3/JH.6.2.39. Raised crown Aerolite pistons 8.0 : 1 comp. ratio 1s induction system and carbs. (1) Find best valve timing for power. (2) On best power, check loss to cut out open using duplex manifold and downtakes as compared with power loss to cut out open on standard single downtake system. (3) Return unit to shop to have EB.3466 camshaft (Std. B.V) fitted. On best timing compare for power with long duration shaft. (4) With the best camshaft and similar silencer as contemplated for Continental car, obtain non detonating characteristic on Redline fuel, also give actual governor characteristic on a fixed initial setting. (5) Check valve bounce speed (EB.4373 spring and Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}400 top washers as against std. EB.3256 springs and E.86709 top washers. (6) Take 1 hr. oil consumption at 4,000 r.p.m. and repeat if above 2 pts/hr. (7) Gears to be quietened. This unit is fitted with light inertia camwheel and Metalastik coupling and should be specially noted for gear rattles at low speeds under load. (8) Unit generally to be tuned up all leaks etc. cured for passing off for chassis. Wraith III No.4. This unit is being overhauled and will be available for induction system development (Duplex carb). No.5 Test House. B.60 No.1. As soon as Millwrights have mounted B.60 No.3 and is ready for running return the No.1 to the shop for inspection after its 50 hrs. endurance run. B.60 No.3 Universal bed.
