S/W x7820. C13/C9.1.30. x.4462 X.7960 X.7820 X.5820 LARGE SECTION TYRES - INDIA & OTHERS. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}3/MJ.1.1.30. We note the objections to the "India" tyres and are arranging for this information to be conveyed to customers whenever these are ordered.x So far as wheel clearances are concerned, however, we unfortunately are not absolutely able to control customers as to the fitting of tyres and although we might fit tyres with a certain kind of section when the car is delivered there is nothing to guarantee that as soon as those tyres wear out they are not replaced with something else for instance, Dunlops ordinary standard tyre I understand is rather larger than the Silent tyres (apart from Fort) and as the Silent tyre cannot be obtained everywhere customers will no doubt be fitting the buttress. Therefore, although we discourage the fitting of any tyres except those we recommend, we are not always able to control this matter and therefore provision should be made on the Coachbuilder prints to allow for such possibilities. I note you are circulating a standardisation sheet for the 20" rim and this will enable you to fit Fort tyres. C. | ||
