[Handwritten Number]: 1328 WMH/GN: October 25th, 1937. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd. DERBY. Dear Sirs, For the attention of Mr. Steadman. We are sending to you two partly finished Vauxhall pattern thermostats, which were set to 78°, and were then tested in a pressure box at 75 lbs/sq.in. for 20 minutes, and 50 lbs/sq.in. for 44 hours respectively. You will see that the unit subjected to the high pressure has distorted, and the other to possibly a slightly lesser degree. Will you please examine these and let us know what action you wish us to take, as there would appear to be no object in building up the two special units which you returned, in view of the fact that the frame, even after ribbing, does not seem to be stiff enough. Is it your wish that we should look into the possibility of making the frame out of stiffer section material? Yours truly, THE BRITISH THERMOSTAT CO. LTD. [Signature] W. Martin-Hurst. Director. | ||
