With reference to the subject of attaching cotton fabric to the aluminium cones, I think we are making a terrible fuss over getting these sufficiently well rivetted, but from the very first I pointed out that it was no use my criticising a clutch unless it was thoroughly well rivetted to the aluminium and suggested definitely a long time ago the advisability of using plenty of rivets which would be quite effective if they were small in size. I am surprised and staggered that no vigorous and great attempt has been made to do this, but we pottered about lamenting that the blooming cotton fabric flies away from the aluminium and played about with steel wire sewing instead of bucking up with plenty of small rivets, and leaving these more experimental fastenings for a time when we are able to give more time to them.
