RE SIDE SHAFT NOISES.

With reference to the above which I note is now under your consideration, I shall be glad if you will bring forward the question of noise caused by oil; that is that when the oil level is lowered to when the side shaft just dips the noise is considerably reduced as I demonstrated to you this morning in the presence of Mr Wormald and Mr Bailey.

This is a very important matter and I think should be taken up with the idea of considering some move being made so as to adopt such method as standard.

It is impossible to leave gear boxes with this level of oil as the second gear wheels themselves do not touch the oil.
