TELEPHONE: CENTRAL 8641 (18 LINES) TELEGRAMS: "BUMPERS, BIRMINGHAM". WILMOT-BREEDEN LTD EASTERN WORKS BIRMINGHAM 1 MANAGING DIRECTOR'S OFFICE Car file 29th October 1941. W.A. Robotham Esq. Rolls-Royce Ltd. DERBY. Dear Robotham, Thank you for your letter of the 27th instant. I quite appreciate the fact that the front bearing failure may be the sequel to my crash. I am definitely intrigued by the misfiring, which appears to have got you beaten so far. Have you traced the creaking noise associated with the front end, which has also been so persistent the whole time, and which was alleged to have been cured last time? I do think it would be worth your while finding out what is the cause of this, for future reference. I am sorry to hear about the slowness of the progress on your automobile work, but you are suffering the penalty of fame, and with all these things the national effort must come first. I wish, however, you could hurry up Ward. We have been writing to him now for weeks about templates to enable us to finish the ventilating window and the stainless steel channels, and so far we cannot get anything out of him at all. Surely he could clear this job up to enable work to be done towards getting the first car on the road. | ||
