HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 302 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}9/MH.{M. Huckerby} 30th. August 1938. The Gleason Works, 1000, University Avenue, ROCHESTER, N.Y., U.S.A. Dear Sirs, You recently supplied to us some 1 1/2 Hypoid gears of ratios 8/37 and 9/37. We have run a pair of the 8/37 on a dynamometer test, after which the surface of the gears was not in a good condition. We should be glad if you would let us know whether the material used in these gears was as specified on our drawing, or if not, what the composition of the steel was. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
