BENTLEY 50 CHASSIS.

TIMKEN ROLLER BEARINGS APPLIED TO THE 1.5 HYPOID REAR AXLE GEARS AND SEMI-FLOATING AXLE.

Please receive herewith blueprints of G.CD.839 shewing a scheme for the above. The modifications are as follows :-

(1). New Housings, Covers and Adjusting Washers, to suit the Timken Roller Bearings, on each side, with 4 Belleville washers and one thrust washer additional on the R.H. side.

(2). The average thickness of the adjusting washers on the differential bevel wheels and pinions has been increased to .117 and the washers hardened all over.

(3). The hub on the differential bevel wheels has been lengthened.

(4). R.H. and L.H. Differential Casings have been altered to suit 2 and 3.

(5). Bushes deleted from differential bevel pinions and bore of pinions hardened.

A print of this drawing has already been handed to you and details are made and issued. The scheme applies only to an experimental axle. If the Timken bearings are successful a final scheme taking advantage of the reduced outside diameter will be issued.
