current winding on the relay core. All the springs, contact pressures, etc. of the relay circuit have been carefully arranged, and we do not think it advisable to reduce the contact pressure beyond what we have arranged. As it is, to get a nice adjustment of the whole thing, we have had to make the travel of the lever somewhat less than was originally arranged for.

We have proved by actual trial that having got the motor turning the engine (ignition off) in the way described, i.e. with push button switch off contact, if the main gear box be put into gear, and the clutch gradually let in, the increased current due to the additional load on the motor will cause the relay contacts to be drawn apart and the system will stop functioning. Therefore, it would not be possible, having accidentally left the car in gear, for the car (should the engine not fire) to be driven along by the starter motor.
