Dear Mr. Skinner,

Further to our letter of even date. We have had a complaint from production re the condition of rectified pumps which you are returning, the trouble being that the unions and plugs are badly tarnished and that the enamel on the castings is badly chipped.

We fully realize that probably the tarnishing and damage to the enamel took place during previous use and during the changeover, but we think you will agree that we cannot put pumps in this condition on new chassis, and this of course we are having to do to keep up production output at the same time as the changeover.

Will you therefore please be good enough to re-enamel any damaged castings and buff up all tarnished unions, plugs etc., to make them 100% finish so that they can be fitted to either new chassis or to those in customers' hands.

In a previous letter - Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Bwg.{J. C. Bowring}18/KW of Sept. 4th - we asked if you could please let us know the number of rectified pumps supplied up to date, but evidently this has been overlooked. Will you therefore be good enough to ring us up on receipt of this letter and let us know, as this is required for general report purposes.

Thanking you,

Yours sincerely,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
