To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to CJ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X. 5290 S E C R E T. I N D I A.{Mr Adams} ENGINE SIDE GUARDS. E2/M2.7.25. We send you herewith drawing LeC.2089., shewing a pocket for shielding the aperture provided for the passage of the exhaust pipe. We think that this modification should overcome any trouble due to mud splashing at this point. Mr. Royce would like Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} to make tests to determine whether there is any reverse air flow through the louvres, carrying mud into the bonnet.
