[Handwritten note: See me #]

Dear Mr Hives,

I must apologise for troubling you again on a personal matter, but as the purchase of this Bentley car is rather an important undertaking for me, I want to be sure that I get everything right, and shall be glad therefore if you could answer me the following questions, viz:-

1. I want to have cycle type mudguards fitted to the front wheels, similar to those on the stream line body, and I want to be sure that my chassis will be suitable for this form of mudguard.

2. I understood when I was last up at the Factory, that you were fitting light alloy rods, and one or two improvements which would get more revs out of the engine, and should like to ensure having this type of engine in my chassis, as I am very keen on getting a performance at least comparable with my Alfa Romeo, and over 100 miles an hour.

The number of the chassis allocated to me is B.189.AE, and this chassis is promised for delivery the second week in March.

I have recently exchanged my old Ford for a new 1934 model V.8, and whereas I do not want to go on with this car too long into the summer, I would far rather wait for the delivery of the chassis two or three weeks, and ensure having cycle type mudguards and the improved engine performance.

I should be awfully grateful if you could be good enough to have this matter looked into, and let me know if these two
