MICHELIN BUDD WHEELS - OY2/G29.9.21. X4158

The Michelin Budd Wheels which were received from America have performed quite satisfactorily. They have run now about 6000 to 7000 miles. We are contemplating using the Michelin Budd Wheels on Goshawk ll. chassis. We are finding, however, that the Michelin wheels are going out of favour in France. The complaints against them are that they exaggerate noises, they are inclined to buckle, and they spoil the riding of the car.

We have, altogether, fitted about 200 cars with Michelin disc wheels - about 150 of these have been Armoured Cars. We have had very little complaint. One fault we find with them is that being disc wheels, a very strong cross wind can be felt on the steering. We have not proved conclusively that they do exaggerate noises although we have changed from wire to disc a number of times. We feel however, that there may be some noises which are exaggerated by using disc wheels.

We should be pleased to have any information Springfield may have as regards the behaviour of these wheels.
