Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to BJ. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} X7000 RL/M13.11.28. 'SS{S. Smith}' VALVE GEAR LUBRICATION. X.7060 X.7090 X.7000 We would like a flood of oil at the push rod end of each rocker, and a small feed at the valve end. We should attempt to get this by re-arranging the oil holes in the rockers - (sketch below) SEE ORIGINAL FOR SKETCH. After this increase in the quantity of oil, find out what becomes of it - i.e. how it distributes between the tappets. We propose adding gutters on the inside of the crankcase, each side of the conn. rod banjo, and drilling to each tappet. We do not regard this latter idea as one which should delay the work in any way. It is intended to be added when convenient. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
