With reference to your EY6/P11.6.20, the present practice of using liners on the present-standa type of pistons in order to obtain the low compression was settled at a conference which took place in London, dealing with the question of engine vibrations, etc.

As far as I am concerned, I quite agree with the suggestion made by Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} that we should use standard cylinders without liners, and fit pistons so as to obtain the present high and low cylinder capacities.

In dealing with this matter, it must be appreciated that there will be a considerable number of cars delivered with the present low compression pistons and liners fitted. Great care must be taken to see that we do not get odd pistons fitted.
