Description: WATER PUMP WITH MODIFIED PROVISION FOR END THRUST. THRUST BUSH AND THRUST PAD BEING IN FEROBESTOS N.W.1 MATERIAL.
Purpose: To reduce wear of thrust plug and thrust bush which permits rotor to foul case or cover of pump
Brief Report and Remarks: A pump of this type was run 20 hours at 2,000 R.P.M. and 15 hours at 4,000 r.p.m. on test rig - no wear was evident.
Since pump was fitted to 8.B.V. car and ran 15,000 miles satisfactorily in France. On stripping and examining same it was found that end plug had increased from .006 - .011 indicating only .005 wear - this had all taken place on Ferobestos tail thrust pad. Last pump to complete 15,000 miles (26.G.VI) had approx. .030 wear on thrust bush and button.
When recommended for Introduction: If possible 2nd. half B series if not, 1st. chassis in C series
