X6023 EFCL/AD. 20th May, 1930. Messrs. Everett Edgecumbe Ltd. 117, Victoria St.{Capt. P. R. Strong} London, S.W.1. Dear Sirs, Warren Motor. Recently, the undersigned had some correspondence with you concerning Warren motors and the Synclock and gave you the results of observations of Derby's supply frequency over a fairly extended period of time. He is now anxious to ascertain the running capabilities of the Warren synchronous motor on a supply of variable frequency, the voltage of which varies proportionally with that frequency. Owing to the motor current being mainly determined by the reactance of its windings this current, except at very slow speeds, would remain constant in the circumstances stated, therefore it would appear that the torque would be constant and that the motor would run synchronously with the variable speed generator. Also, being self starting, the difficulty of getting away when the generator started would not be met with. He would be very pleased to have the desired information anticipating that the motor would run synchronously without difficulty in the circumstances of variable speed stated. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
