EFC2/AD20.5.30 contd. -3- There appears no reason in principle why a practical arrangement of speedometer and mileometer should not consist of an alternator whose rotating element is either a permanent magnet or an inductor, the fixed windings being permanently connected to a pair of line wires which supply a rectifier type instrument for speed indication, and a small synchronous motor driving a counter for mile indication.
