20 HP. CHASSIS 5-G-2. RE IGNITION COIL FAILURE.

We are handing you herewith Ignition Coil No.3-TG-3. The coil in question is one of the "tall boy" type but is used in a coil case made up from synthetic resin.

Apparently the facts of the case are that the above chassis was originally an experimental car and was done up and sold second-hand.

The coil failed, and the car was taken into Cricklewood and a new coil has been issued to replace the original one.

It appears to me that this type of coil should have been removed when the car was sold, as we certainly do not consider the coil case made from synthetic resin a reasonable job.

It is interesting to find out just why this failed. The report is that it fails intermittently. Possibly it may turn out to be precisely the same as the original type of failure with the type of material from which this type of coil case is made.
