S/W Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} x7830 C10/C29.7.32 Re PHANTOM II BODIES. With reference to your Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey}2/MA20.7.32, We have been making enquiries concerning various new bodies that Coachbuilders have in stock, and we are on the track of one or two. We are not quite certain, however, whether the bodies we are offered would be suitable for chassis No. 22-EX. Another point is that it might be more economical to carry out purely structural repairs to the existing body which would render it suitable for experimental purposes, rather than buy a new body, and then, if the existing body is old-fashioned and the upholstery, etc. in bad condition we can scrap it and fit a new body when you have finished with the chassis and we have to sell it. It seems to me, therefore, that the best thing would be for you to send the car up to us, when we could examine it from both points of view. We agree that it would not be worth while spending £150 on an old-fashioned body, but it might be worth while spending £40 or £50 to make it mechanically sound. LID{A. J. Lidsey} C. | ||
