Dear Sirs,

Shell Motor Spirit.
--------------

Since I got my car from you I have never used any other than Shell, but recently the Shell Co. have sent me two deliveries of a very much lower quality, in fact nothing like former deliveries as regards purity - I have returned a considerable quantity, and this has been replaced with spirit up to anything I have had previously.

I have had the matter up with Messrs Cockshoot's of Manchester and they are urging me to try "Mex" Spirit, but as I have always understood you recommend owners of your cars to use Shell, I have stuck to it all through. Now, I understand you have for the last two years used nothing but "Mex", if this is so, I should like your opinion, as I will not use anything you don't recommend. If Mex is used in place of Shell are there any adjustments necessary of the carburettor or other parts on account of a difference in specific gravity ?

I shall be glad to hear from you on this matter if I am not giving you too much trouble.

Yours faithfully,
(signed) Robert J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Clegg.
