Nature of Complaint. | No.of Cars. | Remarks.

Damaged pipe to Hot-Spot, due to distortion. | W. 3. N. 6. P. 1. Total 10. Last qtr's total 12. | A new design is being tested.

Water Pump failures. | W. 4. N.14. P. 3. Total 21. Last qtr's total 27. | Since the oil grooves have been introduced to the latest design we have not had troubles recurring on the same Pumps. Further improved schemes are being tested.

Front Wheel Ball Bearing failures. | W. 4. N.14. P. -. Total 18. Last qtr's total 6. | This trouble is considered by BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} to be due to faulty lubrication, and special instructions have been issued to Depots as to the correct method of packing the Axle with Ball Bearing grease. Cricklewood, however, consider that the trouble is due to the Wheel Bearings being fitted too tight on the Pivot Axle.

Springing Complaints. | W. 8. N. 5. P. 3. Total 16. Last qtr's total 48. | No definite cure. Cannot hope to make a specification to suit everybody. Something we can never hope to cure absolutely on present design. The specification has been changed which we anticipate will help these complaints. Paris have 2 cases of broken Front Springs.

Squeaking Brakes. | W. 5. N. 3. P. -. Total 8. Last qtr's total 16. | Experiments are being carried out with an anti-squeaking device which it is hoped will overcome the trouble. This has been standardised for Front Brakes.
