1029. c. to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/MHR.{M. H. Rigby} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/11/JH. 24th. January, 1940. P/O.{Mr Oldham}, A.F.Martindale, Officers Mess, Prestwick Aerodrome, Prestwick, Ayrshire.N.B. Dear Martindale, Herewith is a copy of a brief report on the brakes on 8 cylinder cars. Consistently there seems to be about twice as much wear on the rear brakes as on the front brakes. This is curious because the proportion of braking seems to be just about right, i.e. any more front braking would cause front wheel skid. Whilst one would like to get a satisfactory explanation as to why this phenomenon has occured, we are looking for a speedy way of putting it right. I am wondering whether there is a more durable brake lining which we could try on the shoes at the rear. Do you think Lepas is a better drum material than our own. Yours sincerely, | ||
