To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} EAC. ('V' SERIES) FRONT WHEEL BRAKES. X.8420 X.8940 Referring to the report from France that the front brake pull rod was difficult to adjust at the ball ends, we wonder why the adjustable end shewn on N.sch. 1780. and also on an earlier drawing - N.sch.1716 - which was sent to Derby nearly 18 months ago, has never been adopted, but you have continued to use the original design. We notice that you have adopted the solid end which was indictaed on N.sch.1780 with the object of increasing the lock, but you have not adopted the ball end adjustment.
