Worl/R.12.9.33.

Is it possible to withdraw the 28 gallon petrol tank from production until we know what the cost of it is to be ? What would this mean ?

It would seem to me that By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} is instructing parts to come on to production prior to standardisation sheets being fully signed up and without all concerned being aware as to the cost involved. In future, By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} should, before instructing any new parts in accordance with standardisation sheets, first obtain my approval if 'S.S.' sheets have not been completed in every detail including cost.

This note is not intended to delay the introduction of new parts on our chassis, but it is intended to safeguard all of us and to make definitely sure what the instruction of new parts really means to us from all points of view. It may even be that some of the costs, to some extent, may be only approximate, nevertheless it will mean that we are intelligently dealing with the subject. There may also be matters of grave urgency where introduction of new parts are most urgent - such parts could be submitted to me for a decision to instruct without waiting for some details of standardisation.
