Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Dy.{F R Danby} Sft.{Mr Swift} C/Rb.{R. Bowen} 83066 Worl/R.12.9.33. STANDARDISATION SHEETS. Please note the following extract from Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}3/T20.6.32:- "It appears to be the present practice to issue Standardisation Sheets for signature without the signatories having any idea of the difference in cost which will be caused by adopting the modification which it is desired to standardise. "In future will you please therefore arrange for the cost figures to be inserted on the Standardisation Sheet before the sheet is sent out for signature, so that all those who agree to the recommendation for standardisation shall be fully aware of any increase in cost that may be involved." I have, unfortunately, had to deal with this matter again because Standardisation Sheet X.7460 covering the 28 gallon petrol tank already fitted on the Phantom chassis, shows the factory cost will be increased by £3.14.5. per chassis. I look upon this as a very serious matter - we do not want increases, what we are after are decreases. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} saw me yesterday, and he stated that the design could be altered without interfering with efficiency so that the extra cost above mentioned could be reduced. He promised to get into touch with Design and see that the alterations he had in mind were put in hand. The main reason for my writing the above is to ask each of you to get together and consider the best method to be adopted so that in future standardisation sheets will bear cost figures before they are sent out for signature, in order that all those who agree to the recommendation shall be fully aware of any increase in cost that may be involved. This matter should not cause any delay in the issuing of standardisation sheets; Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} agreed with me that this could be done. | ||
