CHASSIS. Present - Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} Item 4 on Agenda. Further 20/25 material to follow "U" Series. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} said it was now time to order further 20/25 material in order to keep up continuity of output. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} gave sanction to order 100 sets of raw material, but to machine only 50 sets. Staybrite material for exhaust system must not be ordered. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} will be doing development work on the exhaust system with a view to reducing costs, and instructions for material for this section will be issued later. Item 5 on agenda. General position re J.III, Peregrine & Bensport. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} read Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}' note reference Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/MJ15.3.32 re alterations required to J.III. All the items were gone through and discussed. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} explained the position of each of the items and also reported on the progress of Bensport designs. Item 6 on agenda. Item 7 of last agenda re 18-G-4. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} reported that 18-G-4 is now on the road. At the present moment it is at Lucas Works where it is being fitted with a standard Luvax central oiling system for trial. The new exhaust system which has been standardised for 181-T onwards to first 100 chassis of "U" Series increases the cost by £6 net. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} will work on this job with a view to removing this extra cost on chassis after the first 100 in "U" Series by producing a new exhaust system, in which less expensive materials can be used. contd: | ||
