Visit of Mr Skinner with regard to Bensport

It was agreed that the throttle body should be made in aluminium, and that sample pairs of carburetters should be supplied, one pair with scratch brush finish and one pair with black enamel finish, for trying out on the engine, to see which fits in best with the general colour scheme.

It was agreed that the bronze throttle chambers are not really necessary. They would require nickel plating and the extra weight introduced by using bronze is undesirable.

We agreed to scratch brush finish the body of a carburetter and send it to Mr Skinner as a sample.

We will take one of the carburetters we have of the standard S.U. pattern. The object of this is to see how the various small corners on the throttle casting could be dealt with.

It was found that in the case of the Rolls-Royce carburetter it is necessary to finish certain parts of the casting by hand with a file.

We think we should also include the suction valve body and floatchamber in making up this experimental scratch brush finish carburetter.

With regard to the link for the mixture control lever, it was agreed that the standard one could be used if the petrol passage from the floatchamber connection to the jet housing could be drilled and plugged from the opposite side, working through the bottom bolt hole in the throttle flange. This was thought to be quite possible.

With regard to the mixture lever itself controlling the position of the jet seating, this should be made a steel forging instead of the brass stamping normally employed, to comply with Rolls-Royce practice, and hardened pins should
