HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl{Len H. Swindell} 9/ER 22.2.39. B 60 and B. 80 Units. Will you please alter the specification of the inlet valve seats from N/MC to S 65. The former is an expensive material and is very difficult to machine and the latter is considerably cheaper, both as a material and a machineable job. An appreciable amount of running has been carried out on S 65 as a valve insert, and has been found to be quite satisfactory. All future units should be fitted with S 65 material seats unless otherwise stated. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swd. | ||
